Akinfemi Afolabi, M.D., FACP President

Dr. Afolabi graduated from OAU Medical School, Nigeria, in November 1988. After completing a rotating internship in 1989, he joined the Nigeria Institute for Medical Research as a research fellow involved in malaria research work. He relocated to the United States and did his residency at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center Internal Medicine program at Harlem Hospital from July 1, 1995 to June 30, 1998. His fellowship in Nephrology and Hypertension was at SUNY Stonybrook from July 1998 to June 2000.

Dr. Afolabi joined Renal Services of Toledo in January 2001. Dr. Afolabi’s interests include improving the quality of life of dialysis patients, critical care nephrology, kidney transplant as well as kidney stone disease. He serves on several committees at multiple hospitals in northwest Ohio and served as the chief of staff at Bay Park Hospital, Oregon, Ohio, between 2008 and 2010.

Dr. Afolabi is Board Certified and re-certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology, and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

In his spare time, Dr. Afolabi enjoys spending time with his family as well as tennis, soccer, and golf.

Nabeel Imam

Nabeel Imam, M.D

Dr. Imam was born in Karachi, Pakistan. He graduated from Dow Medical College – University of Karachi in 2001. After completing an Internship as the House Officer in General Medicine and General Surgery at Civil Hospital, Karachi, he then went on to be the Emergency Medical Officer in the ER at Liaquat National Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan. Dr. Imam relocated to the United States to pursue higher education. Dr. Imam completed a residency at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, OH, where he was Chief Resident. During his time at Good Samaritan, he received the Best Research Resident Award. He then continued to Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, where he completed his Nephrology Fellowship. Dr. Imam joined Renal Services of Toledo in August 2014.

Dr. Imam’s interest includes the management of hypertension, chronic kidney disease, glomerular disease, electrolyte disorder, and hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients.

Dr. Imam is a member of the American Society of Nephrology. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. Dr. Imam enjoys spending time with his wife and 4 sons, as well as playing cricket and basketball.

Herbert Stockard, M.D.

Founding Partner

Dr. Stockard graduated from The Medical College of Ohio in 1973, where he continued with his Residency and Nephrology Fellowship. He was in private practice for over 35 years when retired. Dr. Stockard is past Chief of Staff with St. Anne Mercy Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. He was a member of the OSMA where he also served as an OSMA delegate. Dr. Stockard served his community as a past Chairman of the Professional Advisory Board with the Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio. He was an active member of the Midwest Medical Mission for over 25 years, where he traveled twice a year in February and October. During these mission trips, he helped the underserved people of the Dominican Republic. Dr. Herbert Stockard was honored in 2014 as the Hometown Hero for his many years of contributions in his community and mission work throughout his career.
